Along with the fellows' work at their placements, they will have regular opportunities to participate in the following programming:
Professional Development Workshops:
These workshops are an opportunity for the fellows to build specific skills related to non-profit and community work. Philly Fellows has partnered with the
LaSalle Non-profit Center to create a comprehensive curriculum for the fellows comprised of five training sessions throughout the year. We are also collaborating with groups such as
Philadelphia Young Non-Profit Leaders, and the
Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce to offer the fellows free attendance to their workshops. Finally, Philly Fellows will be working with our partners to offer larger scale events for a wider audience including our agency supervisors, local students, and other young people working in the non-profit sector.
Leadership Development Dinners:
Each month, Philly Fellows invites a civic leader from the region to join the fellows for an informal dinner. These sessions are a chance for the fellows to meet and learn from some of the city’s most dynamic leaders in a wide variety of fields that relate to both their current and future jobs.
Civic Engagement Component:
Throughout the year, Philly Fellows encourages the fellows' participation in a variety of civic engagement endeavors, including community events, volunteer activities, and social outings. Collaboration between fellows' placement agencies, as well as other non-profits throughout the city, is an integral part of this process. Fellows have the freedom to determine their own civic engagement activities; the goal of this programming is that they connect to their city in an important way, according to their individual talents and interests.
